Description: 4 x 5 Kodak safety negative photographed by Rosenfeld and Sons off of Bayonne, New Jersey, May 3, 1943. Port bow view of the motor torpedo boat PT 196 underway. Her hull has been painted to resemble a shark. PT 196 was one of several PT 103 Class vessels built and designed by the Elco Naval Division in Bayonne, New Jersey in 1943. The vessels in this class were commonly called "80-footers". PT 196 served in Squadron 12 in the Southwest Pacific and was destroyed in 1945 after the war ended. Stamped on original negative sleeve: "106457F / MAY 3 1943 / ELECTRIC BOAT COMPANY / ELCO NAVAL DIVISION / BAYONNE, N.J. / CONFIDENTIAL / Box] 4770".
