The vessel was rigged by Rod Stephens and he often went aloft to check on things himself. Image taken off Newport, RI. COLUMBIA was a 12 meter sloop (US 16). She was designed by Olin Stephens and built in 1958. She raced as an America's Cup defender in 1958, and contender in 1962, 1964, and 1967. She measured 69 ft. in length. Stamped on back in blue rectangular box: "MORRIS ROSENFELD / PHOTOGRAPHIC ILLUSTRATOR / 116 NASSAU STREET, N.Y. / Phone BEekman 3-4970". Original negative 1984.187.161415F.29.
