Description: 8 x 10 gelatin silver print, made from a 4 x 5 Kodak safety negative, taken by Rosenfeld and Sons on October 3, 1948. View of the capain's quarters aboard the FLYING CLIPPER. The FLYING CLIPPER was a C2 freighter, one of the standardized cargo-ship designs sponsored by the U.S. Maritime Commission. In this image the ship master is seen with his family. The captain is seen working at his desk, while his wife browses through Life magazine. Their two daughters are seen drawing in the background. The rhyme, "Because of a nail" is framed on the captain's desk, and the ships procedures manual is at his right hand. On the bulkhead below the barometer is a framed photograph of one of Isbrandtsen's displays in the company's window at 26 Broadway, NY. [Log of Mystic Seaport, Autumn 1998, Volume 50, No.2.] Stamped on back in rectangular box: "MORRIS ROSENFELD / PHOTOGRAPHIC ILLUSTRATOR / 116 NASSAU STREET, N.Y. / Phone BEekman 3-4970". Handwritten on back: "S/S Flying Clipper Story".
